threading and gui programming

Hi,

I am just curious. Do you really need to use threading to do gui programming in python? If so, when and why the threading is needed? Thanks in advance

Nope, threading is not needed for most applications. Background tasks can be handled with timers if they do not take too long to return from doing their job. For long running jobs (say, calculating prime numbers out to a bazillion places), threading comes in handy.
