displaying a raster geotif file in python

I have a problem of displaying a geotif satellite imagery in python. Any one who can give me a hint pls.

Do you have any graphics libraries installed? PIL (Python Image Library) handles many types of images - I'm not sure about this one- what's the actual file extension (.tif, etc)?
