Hardware specs gathering? - platform independant

Good day

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to gather the computer's specs. At
the end it will be scripted into Blender.

Does Python have such direct hardware access methods that would be platform
indepandant?

Thanks

Define "specs". Specifically, please. :-)

Python has access to some things, but most likely not all
the things you'd like.
