simple webserver embedded app recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations for something to base a simple web serving
app on. I want to make a simple user interface to do control/monitoring of
for an embedded application. I'm looking for a builtin python-based
webserver, and a minimal learning curve. Any suggestions?

Have a look at CherryPy (currently being rewritten for version 2),
Karrigell and Snakelets (all on sourceforge, I think)
