python 2.3.2 source code problem

Hi:

i downloaded python-2.3.2 souce code from python.org and it just keeps givning
me error message:

tar: directory checksum error

i tried other software (ftp.gnu.org) they were fine. does anyone here have the
same problem?

You don't say what system you're trying to extract the source on, but I'd
guess that your tar doesn't grok the extra long file names, or file names
with embedded spaces, that appear in the Mac subdirectory.
