makepy, win32com causing rapid hair loss

P: 3
I am currently refraining from tearing out any more hair.

I have started at a new job and I am trying to get some quick tests for some COM components that are used here.

This morning I installed python 2.4.2 and pywin32-205.

I have used makepy to create the stubs for the type library.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. >>> import win32com.client
  2. >>> s = win32com.client.gencache.GetClassForProgID("MXApi.MXSession.600")
  3. >>> s
  4. <class win32com.gen_py.6CC98261-E777-11D7-884B-0002A53407AEx0x1x0.MXSessionClass at 0x0107B5A0>
  5. >>> dir(s)
  6. ['CLSID', '__doc__', '__getattr__', '__init__', '__module__', '__repr__', '__setattr__', 'coclass_interfaces', 'coclass_sources']
Now what? I want to call methods on this object, but they don't seem to be there. I am obviously missing something, but I have no idea what, and the last hour or two googling has not brought much to light.

Almost all references I have found use the win32com.client.Dispatch method, but these COM objects don't support the dispatch interface, so no joy there.

advice: try enclosing your search in quotes " "

i.e. "win32com.client" samples
