makepy, win32com causing rapid hair loss

I am currently refraining from tearing out any more hair.

I have started at a new job and I am trying to get some quick tests for some COM components that are used here.

This morning I installed python 2.4.2 and pywin32-205.

I have used makepy to create the stubs for the type library.

Now what? I want to call methods on this object, but they don't seem to be there. I am obviously missing something, but I have no idea what, and the last hour or two googling has not brought much to light.

Almost all references I have found use the win32com.client.Dispatch method, but these COM objects don't support the dispatch interface, so no joy there.

advice: try enclosing your search in quotes " "

i.e. "win32com.client" samples
