I am attempting to compile python 2.1 from the source on a RedHat 9.0 system. The problem is that a openssl header file (kssl.h) requires krb5.h which isn't in the usual place (/usr/include). Instead krb5.h gets installed at usr/kerberos/include. The openssl version is 0.9.7a-2. When I build python, the ./configure works fine but the...

Hi. Does anyone know if there's an equivalent of Perl's file::find module in Python? It traverses a directory. I've googled extensively and checked this newsgroup and can't find anything like it for Python. I'd be using it in Linux to regularly search for files with a script. Is this a good application for Python or does Perl have more...

Hi I have installed Python (2.3.4) on a shared network drive. I use it to run a bunch of application on the workstations (Win2K). Now I am running into the first problem ever. I try to use COM to generate a word-file. It runs fine on my machine (Python installed locally). When I deploy it and start the app on another workstation from the...

I'm trying to move my application from bundlebuilder to py2app. I upgraded to PyObjC 1.2, which include py2app 1.7, but I got the following error. I saw a note on the py2app site that earlier versions need to be removed before the upgrade, so I deleted the py2app directory and downloaded and installed it separately, but got the same result. ...

I'm writing a Windows program that needs to store some user files. The logical place to store them is in "Application Data", right? Is there a good way to find the correct location of that directory, preferably without any C extensions? It's ok if the directory is found at installation time rather than runtime, and bdist_wininst does...

What's the customary way to keep your own local Python and package directory? For example, when you're on a server where you don't have root access, and everything must go in your home directory. * What directories do you create? * What environment variables do you set? * What config files do you keep? * Does that setup work with distutils...

I'm still on 10.4 and I'm trying to build pyOpenSSL, but I'm failing with Python.h trying to include and failing to find any of the shared libraries. Hi, I try to "build" and "install" pysqlite? After I type "python setup.py build" I get a lot of error messages? The first error is "src/ connection.h:33:21: error: sqlite3.h: No such file or directory". So, I assume that the absence of the "sqlite3.h" is the origin of the problem. I found on the web, that this file should be either in...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
