Re: lxml, comparing nodes

On Jul 23, 6:29*pm, Stefan Behnel <stefan...@behn el.dewrote:
Your requirements for a single Element are simple enough to write it in three
to five lines of Python code (depending on your definition of equality).
Checking this equality recursively is another two to three lines. Not complex
enough to be considered a wheel in the first place.
Forgive my ignorance as I am new to both Python and lxml ;)

off the top of my head (untested):
>>def equal(a, b):
.... if a.tag != b.tag or a.attrib != b.attrib:
.... return False
.... if a.text != b.text or a.tail != b.tail:
.... return False
.... if len(a) != len(b):
.... return False
.... if any(not equal(a, b) for a, b in zip(a, b)):
.... return False
.... return True

this should work for arbitrary ET implementations (lxmk, xml.etree, ET,
etc). tweak as necessary.

I am new to lxml. I am interested to know the equivalent code using lxml (http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/1.1alpha). The code is taken from http://effbot.org/zone/xml-writer.htm from elementtree.SimpleXMLWriter import XMLWriter import sys w = XMLWriter(sys.stdout) html = w.start("html")

I'm trying to find Windows binaries for lxml. The cheeseshop is supposed to have such binaries, but I can't find them. Does anyone know where I might find such binaries? Thanks, Jan

I looked around for an ElementTree-specific mailing list, but found none -- my apologies if this is too broad a forum for this question. I've been using the lxml variant of the ElementTree API, which I understand works in much the same way (with some significant additions). In particular, it shares the use of a .tail attribute. I ran...

Hi All! I have a little problem with XML namespaces. In my application I have two XML processors, that process the same document, one after the other. The first one looks for nodes in 'ns1' namespace, and substitutes them, according to some algorithm. After this processor is finished, it is guaranteed that there are no more 'ns1' nodes...

Heyas So first off I know that CDATA is generally hated and just shouldn't be done, but I'm simply required to parse it and spit it back out. Parsing is pretty easy with lxml, but it's the spitting back out that's giving me issues. The fact that lxml strips all the CDATA stuff off isnt really a big issue either, so long as I can create...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
