where from i should start it.
Err... What about reading the docs on python.org - possibly starting
with the tutorial:
http://docs.python.org/tut/tut.html

You'll find other tutorial etc here:
http://www.python.org/doc/

i have python compiler
Just for the record, "python" is also the name of a compiler for CMU
Common Lisp (totally unrelated to the Python language), so make sure
that what you have is the CPython language install.

Hi, Is there a program out there that would generate the C code to instantiate objects and call them: ex: miracle.exe -i mymodule.py -o module_internface.c ? I seem to recall a _yes_ to that but I got a memory overflow :-) Thanks,

Hi, I want to learn how to program and python seems to be the most intuitive language according to various internet sources - but I'm not sure if it's best for newbies... please advise.. Anyway, my first project I would like to make is a simple proggie - a simple note 'library', with basic formattable text, to store, edit and access my notes. Express Notes is the prog I currently use but there's things in it I want to customise to my personal...

Hi, I've gone through the list of "language differences" between 2.3 / 2.4 & 2.5 of CPython. I've spend around 2 weeks now, learning v2.5 of CPython, and I consider myself still very very newbie. So, unable to take a call as to how-important or desirable the newer language features are -- so whether to write my app for v2.5 of Python, versus, as few others on this list have recommended, i.e. to stick to v2.3 ?? Are the preformance...

Karthik Krishnan wrote: Apart from the syntax error Rob pointed out (use of "=" instead of "==" as a comparison operator) the output you show makes it seem possible you are entering the command "python main_test.py" at the Python interpreter interactive prompt ">>>". I am a Python newbie who decided to see what that Python fuss is all about. Quite frankly, I am a bit perplexed. After having had few months of experience with Perl (started in 1994 with Perl v4, and doing it ever since) , here is what perplexes me: perl -e '@a=(1,2,3); map { $_*=2 } @a; map { print "$_\n"; } @a;' The equivalent in Python looks like this: Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Jun 15 2008, 18:24:51)

Hi John, Thanks! Using a higher xlrd version did the trick! Regarding your other remarks: -yep, input files with multiple sheets don't work yet. I kinda repressed that ;-) Spss outputs only single-sheet xls files, but I agree it's nicer if the programs works in other cases too. -and no, I don't intend to use data fields. Wouldn't it be easier to convert those to string values if I ever came across them? Thanks again! Albert-Jan

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
