PyGTK GUI update without signals from GUI

Hi All:

I am currently having a problem updating a GUI.

I am using PyGTK and Glade to design an interface for a project. This
interface contains no buttons, just images, labels, and a progress
bar. The code for the project is small, and it basically does some
things independent of the GUI in an infinite loop. I need the project
code to update the GUI intermittently. I have found, though, that
generally it seems that the gtk.main loop is looking for signals from
the GUI and I cannot figure out how to give it signals from another
application. I have thought spawning a new thread from the __init__
in the GUI and somehow having it send signals to gtk.main, but I do
not know if this will work.

Any opinions or ideas on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Andy

I have an image in the Python Image Library. I'm trying to get it into PyGTK in color. Is there any way to do this cross-platform, preferably without writing to anything to the disk? PIL apparently can't write XPMs. GTK will only take XPMs, that I can see. Therein lies the rub. I can ship over monochrome bitmaps via XBM, but I'd rather be able to ship over full color. (Use case, in case it matters: I am trying to embed a graphic into a...

I'm just starting out on Python but my primary goal is to provide applications with some user interface (GUI). Can someone point me to a good comparison of whether I should use wxPython (with wxGlade I assume) or PyGTK (with Glade I assume)? I'd prefer open source (not necessarily GPL though) tools. Rod

Hello, I would like to create a minimalist file browser using pyGTK. Having read lot of tutorials, it seems to me that that in my case, the best solution is to have a gtk.TreeStore containing all the files and folders so that it would map the file system hierarchy.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
