Committing latest patch on Issue 708374 to SVN (adding offset to mmap)

Hi all,

I think the latest patch for fixing Issue 708374 (adding offset to mmap)
should be committed to SVN.

I will do it, if nobody opposes the plan. I think it is a very
important addition and greatly increases the capability of the mmap module.

I can't figure out what this is about from the issue tracker without
examining the patch. It looks like the patch has been accepted; could
you please also check in a doc fix explaining the new functionality?

I am surprised to find out the mmap module in python always mmap from offset 0. So I just hack up some patch to allow it accept offset arguments. So here it is. Chris Add optional offset argument to mmap module.

okay so the code in question looks like: namespace util { template<typename C> inline void mmapw(C *& ptr, size_t length, int prot, int flags, int fd, off_t offset) { if((ptr = (C*)mmap(NULL,length,prot,flags,fd,offset)) == NULL) { err_mesg("mmap failed"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); }

Ok what does the program do: opens a file binary, jumps to an specific offset (0x3529BC9) reads out the string which is 7 bytes (7 chars) long (which starts at the offset), then generates a random string 7 char long sting (string s). Thats what I was able to do, but now I want to replace this offset by this random string and write the patched file to back to the file. i didnt know how do do it with vectors, also this file write operations...

Hi all, Here's the link to the issue we were seeing on our ASP.NET system when modifying, adding and deleting directories in framework 2.0. http://blogs.msdn.com/toddca/archive/2005/12/01/499144.aspx I then tried a few of solution I found while perusing Google, - FCNMode registry mod - Relocating to App_Data folder to create/modify/delete directories.

This is such a long posting that I've broken it out into sections. Note that while developing this patch I discovered a Subtle Bug in CPython, which I have discussed in its own section below. ____________ THE OVERVIEW I don't remember where I picked it up, but I remember reading years ago that the simple, obvious Python approach for string concatenation: x = "a" + "b"

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
