Problem Installing Python on Windows Vista

4 New Member
I am trying to Install Python 2.5.1

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have an

AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz
I have tried all of the downloads for all the processors.
As soon as I run any of the downloads I instantly get an error message:

"This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor."

Any help would be appreciated.

I only got one hit on this issue. It doesn't sound like it's a fit for you, but check out bugs.python.org/issue1563185.

I've posted in the Windows Forum to see if that issue applies to your OS or not. That thread is here.

Thank you for your help.

I have looked to download a 32 bit installer and cannot find it.
is this a download for windows, or another Python download.

Thanks again

I'd try the "Python-2.5 msi" on this page.

From what I have read, you need to forget about any 64 bit installers. Try the one that does not carry an extension of that nature.

I tried the Python 2.5.msi

I get error message:

"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Thanks

Have you tried the newest version of Python, 3.0a?

Very strange. I'll dig around a bit to see if anything else pops up.

I guess that if you are very determined and have a compiler installed you could be the first one to have a version that runs on that machine.

Hi all, Just a quick question... when I try to install Python on Windows Vista Beta 2 the installer seems to hang after I select the destination folder, saying that it will "return when it has finished calculating disk space requirements". I just can't seem to get past that step. I've also tried installing both 2.4.3 and 2.4.2 with no luck. Any help would be very much appreciated.

We have a PC with Windows Vista installed on it and are having problems installing the Developer Edition of Sql Server 2005 on it. The installation completes but some components will not install. We have run the SS2005 Service pack 2 and tried reinstalling, but the SQL Server Engine and the SQL Server Management Studio do not install. Vista prompts with the incompatability message and suggests that we get the V2 service pack, which we...

Read in one forum the question someone asked after successfully (sort of) installing Picture It 2000 on new computer with Vista. Will this person or any other help me accomplish this install on Vista, please. I tried installing Picture It and it seemed to do so. I got no error messages but it sure took a long time. Then when I tried to open the program it said "access denied" adding that I needed 30 meg of disk space (implying I didn't)...

Hi all, I have replied with my own questions to an older post entry but after a while I thought it's better to start a new thread based on the previous one. Perhaps with the new thread I will catch more eyes and find someone who had the same problem and solved it or has more information about it. This is a summary of my problem:

Hello all, I've had an access 2007 runtime app out since October. So far, it's been a very stable download / install, regardless of whether they have widows xp, or vista. I've had 2 instances recently where, upon first installing my software, then attempting to launch, the user has received the dreaded Error 429 Active X can't create object. I'm really only using 4 .dll's / .ocx's: -------------------------------------

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
