I'm looking for a Python interpreter written in BASIC, preferably Visual Basic, and one written in VBA would be best of all. An alternative would be a Python-2-Basic compiler. Unfortunately I have to develop some special purpose code in an organization where my only development environment is Microsoft Office Visual Basic for Applications. The security 'droids have decided that since the MS Office Suite is a "standard" application...

Hi all, I am trying to write some code (macro's, if you like) to glue together our Office applications (mainly Word, Excel and Outlook). We have a lot of different projects going on simultaneously. The idea is to develop a centralized framework (starting point, common interface) for my users to view/control their documents/correspondence, on a per project basis. As an example, I'd like to have a control (button, menu entry) in Outlook...

I am working on an application that uses interop to do some simple operations with both Excel and Word. I have most of functionality working, but ran into issues on making things work with both versions of office. My questions are: 1. What is the 'best' practice for building an application that will work with both versions of office? Do I need to have a separate build with different references for each? 2. Can I install interop...

Hello, this is a potentially veeery dumb question, but: - If an application supports VBA as a macro language, - and if you can execute Python code from within a VBA script (how?) - and if the application exposes its VBA scripting interface through COM then it should be perfectly possible to entirely replace VBA in nearly

Hi all. I just downloaded and installed the new Office suite from MS with their new 'ribbon' based UI. I think it's pretty cool and AFT* for a new UI paradigm. I hope it sticks. Anyway, I'm wondering how to implement a gui like this with Python. I don't think wx or qt or gtk or tkinter support this sort of fading and glowing type of effects... or do they? I played with wx way back in 2000 or so (C++ version), and it certainly didn't...

I downloaded Microsoft Office 2003 Reference Schemas from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=fe118952-354... Then I tried to use JAXB on them, specifically excel.xsd and excelss.xsd. The first one passes OK, but doesn't contain Worksheet element, which is the root element for Excel 2003 documents saved as XML. The other schema, excelss.xsd, contains the definition of this element, but doesn't pass through JAXB....

Hi, I've been googling all over and can't find any good answers about this problem. I would like to create some kind of MAPI interface with Python such that when I open Microsoft Word (or another Office program) and click File, Send To, Mail Recipient it opens a program I wrote in Python and uses it to send the email rather than Outlook. The closest I've come is finding the registry key HKLM\Software\Clients \Mail which seems to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
