Box plot in Python

Hello,

Is there a graphic package for Python that provides support for box plots? (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box_plot and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:R...ht_boxplot.png for
information on box plots).

I have N sets of data, each with X "points".
Example:

Set 1:
Point 1: 0.21
Point 2: 0.92
Point 3: 0.18
Point 4: 0.12
.... cut ....
Point 203: 0.91

then:

Set 2:
Point 1: 0.11
Point 2: 0.3
Point 3: 0.82
Point 4: 0.11
.... cut ....
Point 191: 0.09

.....

I know that R would do it, but I don't know how to use R and would
like to keep on working in Python.

Best,
SB.

Have you considered rpy?

Also, pychart can do anything. You can do a boxplot in pychart if you
are modestly creative.

Matplotlib supports boxplots in a very straightforward fashion and is
reasonably documented (just google it!) I actually just submitted a
patch for extra boxplot features in matplotlib, which you can find on
the sourceforge patch tracker.

OK, I will try it.
Thanks!

MatPlotLib question: How to get more different size plot symbols in the plot function ? Is there a way to get different size squares (or circles or triangles, etc.) ? For example, in a two dimensional plot of heights and weights of individuals, is there a way to represent also the age of the individual by the size of the plot symbol ?

Using MatPlotLib plot function, is there a way to get variable size plot symbols? For example, using symbol strings like 'o' (circle), 's' (square), 'x' (cross), etc., is there a way to specify other plot symbols such a small circle, Medium square, LARGE cross, etc.? Similarly, using the MatPlotLib plot function, is there a way to get variable hue (RGB-specified) plot colors? For example, using symbol strings like 'b' (blue), 'g'...

I want to make a 3d plot. x is a vector(discrete), y is also a vector(discrete), for each pairwise x,y I have a value z(x,y)(it is not a function, just discrete values for each pair of x,y) I want to show them on a two dimensional plot by showing z(x,y) with colors. Thanks for any hint

Dear list, I am using rpy, a python module to control statistical package R from python. Running the following commands >>> from rpy import * >>> r.plot(0) will pass command 'plot' to R and run it. I notice that the R-plot will not refresh (a window is created but the figure is not drawn) until the

I am using matplotlib to generate plot in python in linux. The porblem I am facing is that when I generate a plot using plot() then show() the script stops at that point until I close the plot manually by Alt+F4 or closing it with the mouse. Is there a way to make the script so that it keeps running and leaves the plot open? I I need help with this and will appreciate it a lot. Thank you.

Hi! I just moved using wxpython so I'm a quite newbie. I was wondering how to update plotcanvas? In my code I made button with event to update plotcanvas with new results, but how to properly do it? because now when I press button it makes new "layer" into my GUI and doesn't delete the old plot. Should I first delete the old one and then create new plot, or just update old one, well either way I don't know how to do it... =/ ...

I am trying to use the pylab plot command on my laptop running Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper). Although the plot command works fine on my XP desktop at work, I cannot open the plot window on the laptop. I edited matplotlibrc to change interactive: to "True". In idle, I entered the commands: The terminal window closed abruptly when I typed the closing parenthesis. I have been warned not to use the show() command in interactive mode. I tried:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
