Best Python web-hosting?

I don't need that much web space. I don't need Zope/Plone.

But, I want a site that offers more than just CGI. And I would like
support for recent Python releases.

Price is an issue, that's one reason I've been reluctant to use python
for web-sites, hosting seems to be more expensive than with php.

You get a virtual private server with them, so you can install whatever
you want. cheap too.

I haven't used them myself, but recent research that I did made them
look like good candidates.

I was testing out http://www.devisland.net/ and it's pretty nice. They
installed the latest versions of Python, mod_python and mysqldb at my
request, and support was good. Only real problem is it's too expensive
for the space you get (about $5/month for 100MB), but you said space
wasn't much of an issue.

I have just discovered http://www.dollar-hosting.org/

400mb hdd, and 5gm bandwith for $10/year. And they have mod_python.

You sure about that? I've learned to be skeptical, because a lot of
hosts don't even seem to understand the difference between supporting
"Python" (which in reality is just CGI for them) and mod_python. In
fact, I've even been told that a host *does* have mod_python installed,
and it took several emails to find out that, no, they really don't, they
just support CGI.

All I see on this site is "Python 2.3.4", no mention of mod_python. I
have an email in to them to inquire, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Python-Hosting.com is run by Remi Delon, author of CherryPy, so you'll
be getting your support (should you need any) from someone who knows
Python, and knows what he's talking about.

And the control panel has to be seen to be believed. Setting up new
Django, TurboGears or Zope applications is a point and click
operation, taking seconds.

Sorry about the cryptic subject line, but I wanted to capture the essence of my message in a single line. I am learning Python (which, as everyone know is the best language :-) so that I can write a tutorial to teach my kids about computer programming. The motivation for them will be to use Python to create their own games using pygame and, eventually, blender3d. From what I hear, their friends will be interested in that tutorial too. ...

What is the best way to web developemnt with Python? Is there anything close to PHP style in-page script placement that can create and use other Python objects? I am not really interested in Zope (I believe that is more a CMS than anything else?) I am also looking for something a little more structured than a series of CGI Scripts. While on the topic - what is the expectataion of Python for this kind of stuff? Would one use Python for certain...

I'm trying to get into web development for creating a professional web site and I'm confused on which language I should use. I've read some comparisons between the major languages and I was thinking that python might be the way to go for the most powerful and general language but I am not sure. Does anyone know of any detailed and objective comparisons between the major languages(perl, php, java, javascript, etc...) that might help me get...

Hi all This is not strictly a Python question, but as I am writing in Python, and as I know there are some XML gurus on this list, I hope it is appropriate here. XML-schemas are used to define the structure of an xml document, and to validate that a particular document conforms to the schema. They can also be used to transform the document, by filling in missing attributes with default values.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
