my vote for handy python system admin tool

denyhosts.sourc eforge.net

I used it at a recent contract sys. admin job, and found it so handy I
installed it on my home gateway FreeBSD box. It ROCKS!!! I watch the
system logs just to snicker when it stops a sshd attack dead in its
tracks ;-0

Yes, I've downloaded and read the FAQ. And searched the archives. I'm just treading a little carefully here because of the caveats about locking myself out of the db forever. Some answers I could probably get myself just by trying things out. But don't want to 'play' around too much. I ran the Security Wizard on my system at my office. Did all the usual things, admin -> users, users group have no rights. Assigned rights as required. The...

I've looked through the previous posts on this one and have verified permissions and location of my Dlls, but I am still getting an exception when I try to Load an assembly. The directory where my Dlls are located give the ASPNET user full control, and all Dlls used by the Assembly in question are in the local folder with the rest of the web application Dlls. Could someone take a look at my error and shed some light on this?

I've just started a job which has a massive python2.3.4-centric tools installation and configuration. I know what you're going to say, but I can't upgrade and be the only one with a newer version. There are close to 30 engineers using this same tools configuration, and it has been working fine for a long time. For now, we all have to live with the limitations and or bugs in 2.3.4. I'm running Windows XP, SP2, on a AMD 1.79Ghz MP 2200+.

Hello, I have some materials for a project that I am working on that I keep in a source code control system (svn now, but I'm experimenting with mercurial). I want to install these things from the repository, but not into site-packages/ as Distutils wants to do. For instance there are some administrative scripts I want to put in ~/ admin/ and some programs that I want in ~/public_html/ . I also want to run some post-install...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
