Investigating a query about the python path I see that my win32 installation has c:/windows/system32/python24.zip (which is non existent) second on sys.path before the actual python24/lib etc etc. Firstly should python start up with non-existent entries on the path? Secondly is this entry be the default for some other kind of python installation? -- Robin Becker

Rossum's tutorial states "Actually, modules are searched in the list of directories given by the variable sys.path which is initialized from the directory containing the input script (or the current directory)" I'm running Python standard installation (ver 2.4) on Windows XP. Where can I find the "input script" where the sys.path is defined? Alex

I'm very new to Python and have encountered what appears to be a bug when using com automation of IE with events. I get exception messages that look like this: pythoncom error: Python error invoking COM method. Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Python24\Lib\site-packages\win32com\server\policy.py", line 285, in _Invoke_ return self._invoke_(dispid, lcid, wFlags, args)

Ok, I've been browsing through the MySQLdb docs, and I *think* I know the kind of code I need to write (connect, cursor, manipulate data, commmit, etc. -- although I probably need to get more familiar with actual SQL commands too), but here's my problem: I don't know where these scripts are supposed to be executed, or how they are supposed to 'find' the database. Really, I have the same question for two different scenarios: accessing...

I am trying to tell Python where it can find some modules it will need when embedded in my app. The convenient way would be to plop a .pth file somewhere Python can find it. I found that the doc is wrong when it says this kind of filecan go anywhere on the python path. It is not found if it goes into the python root dir, or python\lib -- the only place I found it would work was in lib\site-packages. So the next question is, how do I...

Hi, I can't figure out why ctypes won't load the DLL I need to use. I've tried everything I can find (and the ctypes website is down at the moment). Here's what I've seen so far. I've added the file arapi51.dll to the system32 directory. However when I tried to access it I see this: Traceback (most recent call last):

Hello My problem is that I want a Python 2.4 module on a server that is running Python 2.3. I definitely want to use the 2.4 module, and I don't want to require the server to move to Python 2.4. More exactly, I am using subprocess, which is new in Python 2.4. What I am writing is something like

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
