If nobody has a quick answer I'll go to the PIL list, but I'm having problems with PIL JPEG support on Windows, and figured someone on c.l.py might have solved this problem. I built the Cygwin PIL from source, and that works a treat. Unfortunately the Windows version (1.1.4 and 1.1.5b1) loaded using binary installers is giving File "/c/steve/website/hpgraphics.py", line 23, in ? File "C:\Python23\Lib\site-packages\PIL\ImageFont.py",...

Does anyone know how I might directly access PIL's bicubic interpolator? I have an arbitrary array of points for which I need to find interpolated color values. Unfortunately, I have no clue how to acceess the bicubic filter in the PIL module, and my NumArray solution is very slow and clunky. I've hacked together a very very very slow solution that involves the following steps: 1) import Image

I'm using PIL to generate some images which may be rotated at the user's option. When they are rotated, the original image is cropped in the new image (which is fine), and the corners are black (which is not, in this case). I can't find any documented way to change the default fill color (if that's what it is) for the corners, and PIL also doesn't seem to support a flood fill. I have created a flood fill in Python, which works but which...

I'm trying to read in a FITs image file for my research, and I decided that writing a file decoder for the Python imaging library would be the easiest way to accomplish this for my needs. FITs is a raw data format used in astronomy. Anyway, I followed the example in the PIL documentation online, and I also had a look at the FITs image stub file included with PIL 1.1.5. I cooked up something that should work (or nearly work), but I keep...

i need a "script" that i can use locally as well as online that will: * create a large (maybe something like 2k x 2k) master image in memory * open a text file and read all the lines from it (maybe 1000 lines max) * each line is composed of an x, y, name and a png image filename * for each line, open the png image and position it in the master image at the location given by x & y * save off the master image to a png at the end

I am seeking a way to resize a PIL image, even if the original is a smaller dimention than the new size. Resizing seems to only make an image smaller, and not larger. I have a 700x700 sized picture, sometimes that will display an image larger and other times smaller. Is there an easy way to do this, a command that I am missing from the library? Thanks!

I have developped this program onto linux, but il would like export it on Windows, however I have a problem with py2exe. If the new user has not python and library(PIL, GLADE) installed, it doesn't work. I don't know how integrate library into my setup.

Okay, so here is the situation. I have need to do some on-the-fly image creation. I have everything working great except for the last part of it, applying a perspective type transform to the image. The transform will take a rectangular 2D image and transform it to a 3D representation in 2D. Please see the link to see what I am trying to do: http://seanberry.com/transform.png I have PIL v1.15 installed which has a PERSPECTIVE...

Hi I've spent a good majority of my day trying to figure out how to have PIL 1.1.5 working on my OSX 10.3.9_PPC machine. I'm still stuck and I have not gotten anywhere. Could somebody please help me... I've scoured all the documentation, google, and mailing lists to no avail. I believe the problem may lay in a jpeglib problem with OSX 10.3.9, or a python paths problem.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
