zope book

hi-

i am shopping at amazon and see the zope bible book. it has an april 2002
date. i noticed the current stable release is about 2.7. will this book
be ok for awhile using 2.X. i know when it switches to 3.X i will have to
buy a more up to date book because it is suppose to be a big revision.
the web hosts will be a little slow to adapt too right?
i am only looking to get a year or so out of this book. does it have
that much life in it if i buy it now? looking at the amazon sales rank it
seems popular and i thought someone might know.

thanks and happy 4th,
jim

Hello all, So Zope still lives, yay. Well, I like that they use Python. <rant> What amazed me is they write that they "added types to the variables and hope that it will be added to the Python project too". Really. ROFL.

Hi, I've been reading the above-titled book and it looks like some major Python and Zope features have been cherry-picked for pushing down into .NET, like application memory management (Python interpreter), and prefabricated website user management (Zope). I know that these didn't originate with Python and Zope, and also that .NET adds...

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post a Zope question but I figure many here are familiar with it. I'm confused about the role of the ZMI when it comes to development. I want to write a simple script that logs page hits. I wrote it in what was called a Script (Python) resource in the ZMI. When I access the page it gives an...

I have been developing in PHP for some time now and needed to look into application frameworks to speed up my development. I was looking into Horde and CakePHP before I was introduced to Python. I started learing python and within a few *hours* I already wrote my first small program and I still use it! I love Python! Then I was introduced...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
