Hi, I'm not new to Python, but new to databases and PostgreSQL. I like to write a PostgreSQL client application (not code running inside of the RDBMS), and Debian has four modules: python2.3-pgsql - A Python DB-API 2.0 interface to PostgreSQL v7.x python2.3-popy - module providing access to PostgreSQL from Python2.3 python2.3-psycopg - Python 2.3 module for PostgreSQL python2.3-pygresql - PostgreSQL module for Python

has anyone got some hard numbers on which pg access module is the fastest, i currently use pypgsql, but i can't help but feel it's a little slow. 3 seconds to connect, send one query, get th return data. i'm on a adsl 1.5mbit/256kbit link, the server is on a 10/10mbit, and i have a ping of 245ms average. maybe pypgsql does too much backand forth, i don't know.

Using the 'struct' module (Win32, python version 2.4.1)-- The library documentation says that 'no alignment is required for any type'. However, struct.calcsize('fd') gives 16 while struct.calcsize('df') gives 12, implying that double precision data has to start on a double-word boundary. Matt Feinstein --

Well folks, we are now coming into the home stretch of another long development cycle, and its time for more vigorous and extensive testing .... Last night, we bundled up Beta4, which is the first one that we've officially announced "publicly", with the other 3 having been only announced on -hackers ... This release, depending on the bug reports received, will most likely flow into our first Release Candidate by end of next week, so...

I have PHP 5.3, PostgreSQL 8.2 and Apache 2.2 on my computer, and some MySQL. From PHP I can connect to MySQL, but not to PostgreSQL. Both drivers are uncommented in php.ini, but phpinfo() shows support only for MySQL (nothing for Postgres). pg_connect() leads to status 500 (internal server error), and the PDO version throws PDOException "could not find driver". Thanks for any help.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
