Issues with pyperl: perl2.so not found

I am attempting to install pyperl and am having an issue where it can't find
perl2.so. I think this is one of those ones where it's looking under the
stairs for something which is actually in the laundry under a pile of dirty
clothes.

cd /tmp/pyperl*
cd Python-Object; perl Makefile.PL; make install
cd ..
python setup.py install
python test.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "apply.py", line 1, in ?
import perl
ImportError: perl2.so not found

echo $PATH
/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin

find -name perl2.so
../usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/perl2.so

whereis python
python: /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/python2.4 /usr/lib/python2.4
/usr/lib/python2.3 /usr/include/python2.4 /usr/share/man/man1/python.1.gz

whereis perl
perl: /usr/bin/perl /usr/share/man/man1/perl.1.gz

python -V
Python 2.4.1

perl -v
This is perl, v5.8.6 built for i386-linux-thread-multi

Obviously I've done something wrong and any clues to point me or the system
in the right direction would be appreciated.

Regards

Cameron

It seems like this is the second time I have come across this with a Pythonmodule, and I'd like to get some perspective on it. I tried to build PyPerl (on my Win XP machine) and got the following: Microsoft Windows XP (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Python23\Lib\site-packages\pyperl-1.0.1>setup.py install running install

I have noticed several boxes in the last few days have local admin right issues. Specifically found when going into the 'device manager', you get the "insufficient privileges" error. This is with the built in Administrator but also with the admin user set up on install. I can go in as domain admin to install devices/drivers so I can get around this for now but I am baffled. This isn't a policy another admin has done as all PC's with...

The group I work with is trying to be language agnostic between Python and perl. We are trying to make it so that we are able to call our various APIs from one language or the other without having to care* what language the API was written in. I've been looking into: Inline::Python 0.22 http://search.cpan.org/~neilw/Inline-Python-0.22/Python.pod

I have stumbled across various Netscape issues, none of which appear to be solvable by tweaking the clientTarget or targetSchema properties. At this point, I'm not even interested in "solving" these problems - I'm more interested in isolating them, .i.e. finding a "complete" list of issues. Here's my list of serious issues found so far. By serious, I mean functionality that fails, as opposed to much less serious (albeit annoying) display...

I have an app that was originally 1.1, now migrated to 2.0 and have run into some sporadic viewstate errors...usually saying the viewstate is invalid, eventvalidation failed or mac error. I have been using MSCONFIG (XP Pro) for four years with no problem. I always use it in Administrator. Last night, when I attempted to go into selective startup mode, I got the following error message: "An access denied error was returned while attempting to change a service." It appeared to do what I asked it to do but every time I click APPLY or OK in MSCONFIG, I now get that message. Administrator has always had access to everything. I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
