i18n support in Postgresql

P: 2
How to enable i18n in Postgresql database?

I changed the executing environment to a Portuguese locale, and initdb to create a database cluster in the Portuguese locale. The command prompt showed 'invalid locale name pt_PT' but still created the cluster in the Portuguese locale.

The problem is how to check if the pgAdmin is now in new locale. The error messages here are still appearing in English, and to_char for month or day name also appears in english but not in Portuguese.

Any ideas if to-char was fixed to display month and day names in localized form?

Thanks.

How do we check if Postgresql supports Portuguese?

The documentation says it has locale support. It may not support displaying error messages in Portuguese, but atleast to_char(current_timestamp,'DAY') should have displayed portuguese day name. This seemed to have been fixed in Postgresql 8.3 rc, but to _char still does not display Portuguese day and month names.
