PG archiver problem

P: 1

I got this error message when I tried to get a backup of postgresql DB in a Fedora machine.

The command that was used is:
pg_dump /var/lib/pgsql/data/warranty_1_9 > /var/www/1.9/dump/test_warranty_1_9.sql

The error message is:
pg_dump: [archiver (db)] connection to database "/var/lib/pgsql/data/warranty_1_9" failed: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "postgres"

Can anyone tell me what the problem might be?
