When you need to persist an object to a relational database you typically consider the object to be a collection of the properties. You save these individual properties in the database.
It is not uncommon to have a special mapping, practically a layer in the app. which converts objects into set of attributes on the way to db, and assembles values returned from the database query back to the object.
