FATAL ERROR on Solaris 10

Hi All

I am trying to run my C sample code on Solaris machine ,that internally interacts with postgres database ,and its job is to print the result by retriving the data from table.

But when i run it iam getting the following error message.
$./odbc
Connection to database failed.
FATAL: role "pce" does not exist
$

I tried in su mode also, but the same message repeated with "root" does not exist.

Please some body let me know is there any mechanism to link the user with the database.

Thanks in Advance\
