I'm looking for a database that will support Mac 8.6 onwards. Do you have any suggestions.

PostgreSQL runs fine on OS X, but doesn't and won't run on "Classic"
Mac OS.

Do you mean "run on" Mac 8.6, or "speak to a client running on Mac
8.6"?
