http://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/78/0.php is a tutorial on how to
create a membership system (pretty good article!). I am sure it will be
rather straightforward to incorporate a Paypal interface to this
tutorial.

If you looking for a portal solution. PHP-Nuke available at
www.phpnuke.org is robust and has a Paypal add-on (
http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=...ticle&sid=7025 ). Since
you have not mentioned what capabilities you are looking for, please
take a look at the php-nuke site (and the Paypal add-on) to see if they
fit your requirements.
