I'm working on a simple php script and i'm getting the error in the title

$pass1 = $_POST['pass1'];
$pass2 = $_POST['pass2'];

if ($pass1 == $pass2) {
echo "The passwords match";

can anyone help identify the problem

it's the direction of the slashes when you escape it in your echo statement, it should be back slashes

it should be

<a href=\"index.php\">HERE</a> . . .";
