I want to place a line numbers in the textarea just like the one in the attachment.

how are you outputting the text right now?
Or are you just looking to format code-snippets to look like that on the browser? If so, you can do this with CSS.
If you want to print the numbers, use PHP, if using HTML, use an <ol>.

I eventually used CSS to format the background with image and use PHP to generate the numbers. All as you advised
Though, I still facing little challenges. but I am sure, I will get over it.
Anytime, I finish with it, I will upload the details to the forum, perhaps, friends can benefit from it.
