How to have garbage collection in web ?

Well in web server there will be many dormant content and inactive account user. These things will just occupy the space. So in order to free up the space i would like to develop a program that will automatically delete those above mention by using some various parameter.
So please help me

you could write a script, that crawls through the directories and removes every file, whose atime or mtime exceeded the limit.

only script is not workin? i tried other modules from drupal but these are little bit completed but any way thanks for the suggestion.

no but presently available account removal requires admin to control over the execution of that script so here i am planning to work that automatically
