i got this code for ranking users input to the data base
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. $resultr = mysql_query("SELECT id, rank FROM bidding_details where bid_id=$bid_id and sortbid='1' ORDER BY bid_price DESC");
  2. $rank=1;
  3.  
  4. while ($myrow=mysql_fetch_row($resultr)) {

  6. $id = $myrow[0];
  7. mysql_query("UPDATE bidding_details SET rank=$rank WHERE bid_id=$bid_id and id=$id and sortbid='1'");
  8.  
  9. $rank++;
  10.  
  11. }    
i got serious problem when allot of users sending data to the data base in the same time ,my question is if that code can cause problem when user sending data in the same time ,the data is sent every second!

From my understanding the way mysql handle things is one at a time. Requests are held back while others execute unless you are running multiple linked servers. You can add high priority requests, and also low one which are only run when nothings happening.

Just watch your server resources, as if it's very popular, you could need very high end solutions, like what I imagine eBay uses.
