how the session id is used to maitain session in php?

right, the session id is created at server at the time of session start, and this session id is transmitted with each request back and forth between client and server.

But I want to know, how the session id is sent to client if we are not embedding it with the urls.
Does the server automatically sends it to the client? Or php.ini is involved?

And where this session id is stored on the client side?
if in cookies, these cookies are maintained by browser as temporary cookies? or does it stored in the system cookies.
what if cookies are disabled or blocked.

I am not getting a clear picture about session handling.
please someone help.

thanks in advance

@ravideep
the latter is the answer to the former, see Session Runtime Configuration

@ravideep
see above

@ravideep
then you’re out of luck.

@ravideep
then you should read an extensive tutorial or introduction to sessions.

The Session ID is generated on the server which is stored in a session cookie which is sent with every page.
If the server is running with cookies disabled, then the session key becomes part of the URL (like $_GET).

it is stored in cookie, and its name is PHPSESSID..(If you want you can change it.)
