how can i get my uploaded image pixel size?

Hi i am trying to get the pixel size from my images

as soon as i upload them i would like to store that pixel size into my database to display it later on screen.

all my images are different sizes for example 1200 x 800, 200 x 200, 4095x4095 etc.

i was thinking it could be done by grabbing the information out of the image properties somehow on upload,

This may help.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. $size = getimagesize("path to image");
  2.
where :

$size[0] ------> width of image;

$size[1] -------> height of image.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. $mysize=$size[0]*$size[1];
  2.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. echo $mysize;
  2.
It will give you the size.

just out of curiousity, what important does the picture area tell you (imo “width x height” is more descriptive)

Could also use imagesy(), and imagesx().
