Completed Download Counter

When a user downlaods a file from my website I want to track how many times it has been downloaded. When the user clicks on the link I can simply redirect to a page recording how many times this has been downloaded before the download starts, but is there a way to record how many times the download is completed? I think it will need to be server based, as I don't know how to check if download is complete any other way?

Yeah, you'll have to get stuck into the server config, and I've no idea how to do that, although it would be interesting.

In fact, I'm going to GMAO and see what I can find.
