Slideshow in PHP with info from MySql DB

P: 1
First off, I am a first time poster, and a novice at PHP and am completely unknowledgeable about MySql DBs, or any DBs for that matter. So, be kind, and help if you can. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to make a slideshow of all our currently available dogs. These dogs change on a daily basis, I need a solution that will update automatically. This is the page that I am working on:
The section I would like to put it in is here:
<!--Available Boxers Rotator-->
<!--/Available Boxers Rotator-->
I need to get the images, and information from our MySql DB. The info that I want is like what shows on this page:
in the area on the right, between the "Sponsor me" button, and the form below.
The available dogs are listed on the left. I am sorry if some of the info is repeatative, but I am trying to be clear. Thanks again for any help that you can provide!

You can't tackle something like this without knowing much about how to extract data from MySQL via PHP.

So, I'll do, politely, what anyone else here would do: refer you to a tutorial. If you complete the tutorial, try some code, paste it here and tell us where it's broken. We'll gladly help you.

At the moment, you don't have much to go off of.

Here are some good sites for tutorials:

Others might suggest what is typically returned from a Google search.

Try some code, and come back with questions,

Another great tutorial on data can be found here on Bytes.

to make this look really great and work really well you should consider AJAX. This would simply results in the details of the dog being refreshed and nothing else.

I am currently thinking about developing something like this for my wife's website - she's an artists and it would really improve the gallery pages.

As a basic overview you simply need the following:
1. data structure to store all the dog info including URL to a picture
2. file structure - where the pictures aer stored
3,.some JavaScript
4. two buttons - forward and back
5.PHP page to process the request and return the HTML for the JS to output.

That should do it and it should n't take too long to do.

As was said above have a go at developing this, there are plenty of great tutorials to follow and then post back any specific questions. Remember to use the code tags when posting code.
