Does anyone know of a good PHP Session tutorial that actually explains
sessions rather than just relying on examples?

some user preferences as $_SESSION variables and use them throughout

Its an entire chapter thats actually explains cookies and sessions,
rather then using just examples, and its free :)

You only need to know two things to use sessions (assuming PHP V>= 4.1.x):

1) session_start()
Put this function at the start of every PHP page that you want to be in
the same "session".

2) $_SESSION
If you do (1) then everything (all of your variables) can go into (2).

Simple!
