Can You Recommend a Content Management System?

I'm hoping someone can recommend a free to low-cost content management
system that's easy for non-pros to use and is not too constrained by
web design. I have a content site and I would like my editors to post
stories, update blogs, etc. Thanks for the help.

What have you looked at?

When you say "free", the most popular names that comes to my mind are
Joomla and Mambo. http://www.joomla.org and http://mambo-foundation.org/
Of the two, I get the impression that Mambo might be easier to use, but
opinions may differ.
