PHP Dev. Env.

My company is switching over from ASP.Net to PHP for various reasons.
I've been programming ASP, VB, and C++ for years and MS's development
environment is fairly robust. More to the truth, I'm used to it.

I'm not up enough yet on PHP to have any other question at this point
other than this very basic one. What editor's (free) are out there that
are similar to the MS's RAD type of environment?

Thanks in advance.

I have. The problem is not finding one, it's that there are so many!
I'm asking here where I can get recommendations from people who use PHP
in the real-world.

Is there one you'd recommend?

I haven't worked with MS stuff but the typical free PHP IDEs with
everything integrated are "PDT Eclipse", "NetBeans IDE Early Access for
PHP" and "Komodo Edit", each one with its owns pros and cons. The con is
usually slow performance. I'd say that Eclipse is the most mature and
Komodo the most friendly.

"Zend Studio for Eclipse" is one of the best IDEs. Not for free!
But if you use VS there is a plugin VS-PHP. Also not for free...

"PDT Eclipse" is the free version for a IDE. Attention! It comes with a
lot of bugs. But if you are learning its maybe ok.

So long, Ulf

I do it in the real world. I use vim and cvs.
