I use crimson editor, it combines a text editor with syntax highlights and an FTP client.

Hey, zorg!

Here's a couple (by no means are these the best, but they are to me)

php designer personal 2007 (probably the best).

PSPad (includes ftp!)

TextEdit (I've never tried this one; heard good stuff about it, though.)

But yeh, my fave is probably phpdesigner. It's pretty, and useful!

I'm currently working on Eclipse.
It works for other programming languages as well, like Java.

I tried installing Eclipse. Unfortunately, my n00b status rendered me silly. Canny figure it out :(

I havent tried it on Windows, but on Linux you just download the AIO file from the link I posted, unzip it and run the executable.
No setup required and everything works out of the box :)

I'm not so sure about that TextEdit one. I tried it but it didn't appear to support PHP. Javascript and Java worked but not PHP.

When i saw that you could parse the PHP in the crimson editor, i immidiately said "that's the one for me!". But then, after realising it wont parse html, or anything else, I was kind of bummed. :(

I think I'll stick with php designer or pspad, until a better one comes along.

I'm desperate for textmate to be available on windows and not only mac!

Check out Intype. It is a Windows editor heavilly influensed by TextMate (allegedly).
Still in alpha tho so it may not be entirely stable yet :)
