Hi,

What OS do you plan to use? I recommend Apache, it's easy and you can find a lot of help because many people use it.

Hi.

I would use Apache with PHP if at all possible.
The Apache server is open-source like PHP and the people developing it have always made sure it has the best PHP support possible.

IIS works fine to, but it's main focus has always been on supporting the various Microsoft server technologies.

Also, keep in mind that Microsoft is probably the most anti open-source bunch of people on the face of the planet :)
