PHP, MYSQL, WYSIWYG, DREAMWEAVER.. lost

164 100+
Hi guys, I hope nobody is offended by my newbish question...

I have no SPECIFIC examples here. I am brand spanking new to all of the dynamic websites business. I am using DW cs3 and am doing pretty well as far as simple things are concerned (connecting to DB, creating RS, Repeat regions, Insert records, I am still working on the update and delete records... Its a slow process for me)

ANYWAYS... What I want to do is to be able to make a pretty simple site that has editable regions for the user to log in and edit. I know this can all be done in dreamweaver, but I what I am really after is for them to have a nice WYSIWYG editor that will pass off all the html value to the MYSQL field.

The first part I am stuck at is.. what type of field it needs to be set as in MySQL ( I am using phpmyadmin )
and second off I dont where exactly to find this solution.

I tried using tinymce ( I think this could work, but I couldnt figure it out, and could find NO documentation that was relevant to my situation.

I am open for ANY suggestions on this.

Thanks for any advice!

Anyhow, you should set the field to TEXT type, since you will probably have a lot of data entered into 1 field. Also make sure in your PHP code that you prepare the data before entering it into the database. You can use mysqli or PEAR; however, if you are using the older mysql functions then do not forget to use mysql_real_escape_string to escape all the " ' quotes and such in the html code you will be storing.

As for the other details maybe make a draft design of what exactly you want to do. Then it will be a lot easier to answer you question.

Sorry about not responding! I checked my control panel everyday, and I didnt see any updates.. I just figured nobody responded..

OKAY, so after searching forever, and dl a bunch of editors that didnt work the wanted them to, or I coudlnt figure out HOW to make them work. I finally got it, but it cost me dearly, 160 bones.

May not be the best thing out there. but it works perfectly for me..

All I wanted to happen was for the user to be able to login and edit a few text areas "about us" "news" you get the idea... A mini CMS if you will for them to visualy edit their sections if they wanted to.

So in case anyone was wondering that plugin works BEAUTIFULLY and I coudlnt be happier.

An thank you for the response. If anyone has anything they want to throw in, please do so. I am still open to suggestions.
