Hey, I'm totally new to PHP (started 2 days ago), and I need lil help with this: -
for ($i = 5; $i <= 14; $i++){
-
-
//$k="$i-4";
-
$NewData[5]=$C1;
-
$NewData[6]=$C2;
-
$NewData[7]=$C3;
-
$NewData[8]=$C4;
-
$NewData[9]=$C5;
-
$NewData[10]=$C6;
-
$NewData[11]=$C7;
-
$NewData[12]=$C8;
-
$NewData[13]=$C9;
-
$NewData[14]=$C10;
-
}
-
how can I simplify this code? I know it is easy to do, but I can't find the solution anywhere. Thank you.

Hi Adriano. Welcome to TSDN!
That depends on what you are trying to achieve.
Could you explain a little better what this code is supposed to do.
As far as I can see, this code will loop through 9 times (from 5 to 14), initializing elements 5 to 14 of the array $NewData each time to the same values.
It would accomplish the exact same thing if you removed the for loop.
The thing is, I want to keep the "for" loop. I just want to simplify what is inside the loop. Something like this:
for ($i = 5; $i <= 14; $i++)
{
$k="$i-4";
$NewData[$i]=$C$k;
}
but this isn't working
Sorry for that, I found the problem. I read couple of php scripts and I found out it has to be inside the quotes.
for ($i = 5; $i <= 14; $i++)
{
$k="$i-4";
"$NewData[$i]=$C$k";
}
don't know why but it's working. Thanks anyway.

That makes no sense... As far as I know that should not work.
I would probably use the eval function in this sort of situation: -
for($i = 5, $k = 1; $i < 15; $i++, $k++) {
-
eval("\$NewData[$i] = \$C$k;");
-
}
-
Heya, Adrian.
Try this. -
for ($i = 5; $i <= 14; ++$i)
-
{
-
$newData[$i] = ${'C' . ($i - 4)};
-
}

Nice one pbmods! Didn't know that was possible. :)
I would (and will) go with this solution.
Workiing :) thank you guys.. my bad yesterday, wasn't testing the functionality just the syntax. This code was the thing I was looking for, the connection between two different variables. Thanks.
