Get error when removing a part of this if statement

I want to remove this code from the code posted below and get errors. What needs to stay to finish the statement??
lg("pm_zap")

if (key($folders) == 101) // if deleted items
$folder_list1 = substr($folder_list1, 0, strlen($folder_list1) - 5) .
sprintf(' &nbsp; <A HREF="pm.php?zap=1&ref=%s">.:%s:.</A><BR>' . "\n",
$vars["folder_id"], lg("pm_zap"));
