Check if "curl over ssl" is installed

P: 2
#1 How do I tell if I have "curl over ssl" installed? What specific "switch" or line of text do I look for in the result page from running phpinfo.php on my server?

#2 "Curl over ssl" is NOT the same thing as "curl with ssl" is it? I am seeming to recall someone telling me that they were different things.

From a friend at another forum:

What you want to look for in the phpinfo output is something like this:

CURL support enabled
CURL Information libcurl/7.10.3 OpenSSL/0.9.6g ipv6 zlib/1.2.1

That tells you that CURL is enabled and has SSL support.

Just a note. We were having problems with running our ecommerce on a godaddy virtual private server. Our problem turned out to be that while their shared server accounts require going thru a proxy, the virtual private servers do not. We removed the proxy statements in the php script and were able to communicate to the CC processor after that.

BTW Godaddy real person support was not helpful. Told us to look on google ..DUh like we had not done that already!!! Indeed it was their online "help" that indicated that to use curl function one had to go thru the proxy....leaving out the part about it not applying of you are on a virtual or dedicated server.
