where to set Maximum inactive interval time in php

hiya everyone!!!
Just wanna know where to set the maximum inactive interval time in php so that when a user has logged in to the site then leave the site after several minutes he/she will be logged out automatically, in other words his session will expire and needs to login again to activate another session...

your answer is highly appreciated... tnx
What will happen if you update a session everytime a page loads.
If that session time and current time differs more than your req. time then logout them and present login page.
