how to grab info from other websites?

Hello, how can I grab some information from other websites? Like for
example the way housingmaps.com is grabbing stuff from
craigslist.org ... Can someone redirect me to a few examples of where
they explain how to do this stuff? Thanks.

Ask the webmaster to give you the info you need in an easy to use
format. If you have something to offer he/she wil probably help.
Otherwise write your own content and keep your hands of other peoplle's
content.

To awnser your question:
Use fopen to read a webpase into a variable.
User regular expressions to filter out data u need

Uhu thanks a lot for the quite nice response in the first paragraph...
Obviously I will ask for permission before grabbing any information
from other websites... anyways that was not the point of this post.
Anyways thanks for your very kind response.

You can use
fopen() wrapper http://www.php.net/fopen
or fsockopen() via port 80 http://www.php.net/fsockopen
