stream_socket_client() gives fatal error

bof

When attempting to use stream_socket_client() the error message "Fatal
error: Call to undefined function" is returned.

Any suggestions as to where to start looking to resolve this?

It means that the function is not available (or not enabled) in your
PHP setup. What is your version and OS?

See <http://in2.php.net/stream_socket_client> which clearly shows
"(PHP 5)" which means, it is only available on PHP 5.
