installation of php/apache/mysql on win98

Greetings,
I'm using an old computer - Win 98.

I'd like to install php/apache/mySql on it but there are many versions and
some do not recommend installing on Win98.

If somebody could point me in the right directions about which versions of
apache, mySql and PHp - or if there is a package suitable for Win98 that
would be great.

Thank you.
Eddy

At home, I have the latest PHP and MySQL 4.2 (thereabout, I type this
without checking). PHP 5.2 is no problem with windows 98.

I do not know the system requirements for MySQL, and just installed it
once and never upgraded. My provider runs an even older version of
MySQL, so I ad no need to.

I do not run apache though, but that is mainly because trying to
configure apache gives me suicidal tendencies. I run the abyss webserver
instead. On their site, there is an installer for PHP to make things easier.
Hope this helps.

Best regards

Following on from long eddy's message. . .

XAMPP worked for me on 98 and NT (Who are you calling a Luddite!)

There are some parts of some things (I think pear was one of them) that
are not 98 friendly and needed hacking of batch files just to get to run
- but I can't be doing with Pear anyway.

Not so much Luddite - more like a honey pot.
