PHP Mail

I have a very simple submission form that I threw together and it is working.

The problem that I am having is that the server (Unix) is giving the [e-mail] as the referrer.

Here is the script:

$from = "[e-mail]";
$subject = "Consultation requested by $fname $lname";
$body = "Hello,\n .
        $fname $lname has requested a consultation.";
if (mail($to, $from, $subject, $body)) {       
  echo("<p>$fname the message was successfully sent!</p>");
 } else {                 
  echo("<p>Message delivery failed...</p>");
 }
?>
 

Here is the sendmail section from my /etc/php.ini

[mail function]

SMTP = localhost
 
; For Win32 only.
sendmail_from = [e-mail]
 
; For Unix only.  You may supply arguments as well (default: "sendmail -t -i").
sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
 

Please let me know why the '$from' is not cooperating?

Syntax of the mail() command:

bool mail ( string to, string subject, string message [, string additional_headers [, string additional_parameters]] )

Your $from is header info and must be the fourth parameter in the function.

Thank you, I feel like such dweeb. I read that section 4 or 5 times and didn't pay attention to the position.

Unfortunately this computer is very stupid and does exactly what you tell it to do.
