reading configuration files

Hi

I have a text file which I could access by smb with the following lines.

[XYZ]
Number= 203214

This looks similiar to the php.ini where are a reading routine could
read chapter and values
Is there a similiar reading/writing method available. I want to read the
"Number" increment it by one and store the it then.

regards

Reimar
